Every year in France, nearly two million elderly people fall. These incidents result in over 130,000 hospitalizations and nearly 10,000 deaths. But beyond the physical injuries, the psychological consequences are sometimes more profound: loss of confidence, isolation, stress, and a persistent fear of falling again. It is this fear, often invisible but very real, that the Emochute program has chosen to address.
An innovative response to a major challenge
Developed by Teleport IN in partnership with the Puy-en-Velay Hospital, Emochute is an innovative therapeutic protocol combining immersive virtual reality and emotional release techniques (EFT) . The goal: to sustainably reduce the fear of falling in seniors and help them regain confidence in their movements.

A structured and personalized protocol
The program takes place over five days spread across a maximum of three weeks, with daily sessions of 20 to 30 minutes. Each session includes:
- A relaxation phase,
- An EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) session addressing the fear of falling in general
- EFT targeted at a specific fear expressed by the participant
- And a positive sequence of regained confidence.
Thanks to a virtual reality headset, seniors are immersed in caring and supportive environments, while following guided and reassuring support.
Promising clinical results
A preliminary clinical study conducted on a cohort of 40 people revealed very encouraging results:
- Up to 50% reduction in the dominant fear of falling,
- An average decrease of 8.5% in the overall fear of falling ,
- 70% of participants were satisfied , and 80% were ready to recommend the program .
The feedback from caregivers is also positive: easier immersion, visible calming of participants, and improvement in the caregiver-patient relationship during the sessions.

A human and adaptable approach
At the heart of Emochute lies the desire to offer a non-medicinal alternative to restore confidence, independence, and serenity to older adults. EFT, although sometimes misunderstood, has proven effective in defusing post-traumatic stress. Virtual reality, meanwhile, provides a reassuring and stimulating environment.
The program is now deployed in numerous institutions thanks to the support of partners like KLESIA , with comprehensive support (training, monitoring, tools).
Towards a more peaceful aging
Emochute is not a miracle cure. This protocol is a genuine therapeutic breakthrough for those who wish to live their later years with confidence. By reconnecting seniors to their abilities and easing their fears, this innovation opens a new path for them: that of a more serene daily life, free in their movements… and free from their fears.
